Hi, I’m Jackie, a first year student in the Art and Art
Education MA Init program. This past May I graduated from the University of
Maryland and received a BA in Studio Art with a minor in Art History. My main
artistic medium is acrylic paint. When it comes to new media, my experience is
limited. Growing up I attended Usdan, a creative and performing arts camp,
where I studied photography. I learned the basics of Photoshop, however, over
the years some of that knowledge has escaped me. During my second year of
undergrad I took a studio course that focused on technology. The class had four
projects, each dealing with a different Adobe Creative Cloud program. I learned
the basics of Adobe Illustrator, Audition, Photoshop and Premiere Pro. The
class touched very briefly on each of these platforms, so I am still not
confident in my use of them. I am excited to learn about all the different
forms of new media. Hopefully this course will open my eyes to new ways of art
making that I can incorporate into my studio practice and help to further my
growth as an artist.
