Sound Recording
Age Group: 5th grade
Students will choose a feeling (i.e. sad, happy, scared, nervous, etc.) and use a combination of sounds they record, create and find on the Internet to try and evoke the chosen feeling. Using at least 5 different sounds, students will combine and edit together sounds to create a 30 to 60 second recording.
Students will learn the basics of sound editing on Audacity. How to combine, cut, copy, effect, etc. sounds using the application.
Students will need to use a device to record, as well as walk around their environment for a chance to pin point sounds they would like to include in their project. Students can use whatever they find to create sounds to use. For recorded sounds on the Internet, students will be given a website with sounds that are free for download. Can explain about citing the found recordings properly.
After collecting sounds, students will begin editing the sounds together. If needed, they can record more sounds to build up the feeling chosen.
